I don't normally go in for "comic book-y" movies, but this looks freakin' sweet.

Does anybody know the back story on this movie? Is it a comic book movie?

Its a comic book movie, with a strong following but not really popular, like Spawn and Hellboy.

It does look pretty good - but only one of the Spawn/Hellboy movies were good. Anyway, whats interesting about Sin City is duel directors. That never happens because of union rules, but they were able to get 2 credits for this one. Robert Rodriguez is to me very much hit or miss, but I think this will be a good movie.

Early reviews are in general consensus that Sin City is spectacular. That said, most of those reviewing went in expecting it to be.

Maybe somebody with more knowledge can fill me in, but does anybody know how they filmed this thing? It looks to me like they filmed it but then drew over the characters with computers somehow.

They filmed it with a brand new style of filmmaking called live action with digital backlot. The only other film that you might be familiar with that also did this technique is Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Basically what they do is film the actors in front of green/blue screen entirely. There are no physical sets whatsoever. After all the shots with the actors are in the computers, they then go back and act the scenery and back shots digitally. So it's basically live actors in a digtially animated movie.

Oh and yes, I'm eagerally awaiting the release of this movie from buzz alone. Prior to seeing the trailer before Hostage I knew next to nothing about it. Now I can't wait to see it.
