I sent gates and e-mail, b/c i was reminded to do so since i saw him in the hearings on c-span, asking him whether or not he would hand me my diploma next week and this is the response i got,

This was sent during the hearings so my guess is either he wasn't listening to someone or he did it on a break.

I concur. Getting a BB message from the president of the university is cool. Getting it while he is on break from confirmation hearings...awesome.

Bob Gates was a great president to this university.

the spelling error is genuine, i had to re-read the message to make sure i didnt do it. just cut and paste baby. and he did write it, why else would it say RGates?

Folks, it is time for true confessions as I depart. Ranger 65 is Dr. Gates. And I did send the e-mail about presenting the diploma next week and my thumbs do make typos, especially on my Blackberry. I have enjoyed reading you all for the past four and a half years -- well, at least most of you. Dr. Gates - Every day you do or say something that makes me proud that my University had the privilege of your leadership. You will be missed...but i'm lucky that my Country will experience that same leadership. God Bless you in your new endeavors.
