A neighbor's cat keeps killing animals on our street - squirrels, birds, bunnies, etc. People on our street have talked to the cat's owners about having it declawed or keeping the cat in the house, but they wont budge. They say it's a natural killer and that's what cats do. The cat continues to roam the street killing animals. The cat will only come to it's owner so it's hard to catch.

I havent said anything either way, but I do agree the cat must be stopped. The cat cruises through neighbor's yards so I believe they can legally kill it - but how?? You cant fire a gun within the city limits and I'm not sure a pellet gun will kill it - or will it??

Any ideas??

Have them set a trap for it with some really enticing wet food. When they catch it have them take it to a shelter.

one shot should stun it then use the rest of the box of pellets to kill it.

I killed a few squirrels with pellet guns before

You need to remind your neighbors that this cat is also killing snakes and rats as well.

You cannot legally shoot your neighbors cat.

I sympathize, but you cannot shoot a cat that has an owner, even if its on your property.

I might not be too big on the cat if it is leaving its kills on the neighbors' doorsteps. Otherwise, leave the cat alone. It is probably also keeping mice and rats at bay. People in Southflake need to chill.

My suggestion is probably illegal as well. But you can probably call animal control.

And like or not, bunnies are a pest. They eat flowers and reproduce like rabbits.

Killing, seriously injuring, poisoning, are all fun and games, but felonious. The only exception would be to put live chickens in your yard, and then you can shoot it when it attacks them. I'd pay good money to see that.

i'd like to get me a rabbit killing cat - i'm tired of them eating everything in my yard and driving over their carcasses in the road everyday. plus, their nuts are disgustingly large.

That's a hell of a cat.

Do you have a possum trap? You don't even have to bait it. Cats are so stupid that they will walk right in. After you catch it you can "relocate" it. (And don't forget to shake the cage a bit after you have caught it!)

If you can't be a good example for others, you can be a horrible warning instead!

Yup, just get one of those live traps and put some cat food in there. There goes your problem. My old man does that all the time with the neighborhood cats. Their new homes are in the industrial areas of houston.

Or conveniently have it shipped to "Lost luggage land". Southlake has connections.

My grandpa has a bunch of wild cats that are always around his property. They're bad enough that they're starving and eating each other. He catches them in the live trap and "bathes" them. He just forgets to take them out of the bath water before they die. Not the most humane way I can think of but better than letting them eat each other. I think the trap is the best idea, and set it on the owners porch. Let them know their cat is not wanted. If that doesn't work, trap it again and relocate it.

I don't get what is so bad about this cat. That is exactly what a good cat should do, kill stuff. I'm not seeing the problem here.

While at the range last weekend, a guy was shooting the subsonic .22 rounds. All you heard was the hammer dropping. Not that I'm condoning shooting a neighbor's cat or anything.

I would suggest praying to the cat gods that they have mercy on your soul for even considering such an evil thought and that they refrain from sending pumas down from the mountains to devour the entire suburb of Southlake.

Trap it and bring it down to me. I need a few more cats anyway to kill stuff around my place. Seriously. there is enough here for them to eat that typically don't ever have to feed my "wild" cats. After all, they must earn their keep, right?
