That's what Ben McDonald said about the Vandy freshman who had the game winning RBI on a sac fly in the 8th. And Ben was right. The kid did what he was supposed to do.

In the last two games, we've now seen two instances where our players can't produce because they don't seem to understand the situation. When the game is in the late innings, you have to do your job. Swinging for the fences with the bases loaded or your #9 hitter not getting a bunt down is selfish baseball. We better start being a team at the plate quickly or I don't like our chances to go very deep.

not sure not getting a bunt down is being selfish, it's just not executing.

Stop micro analyzing baseball outcomes. That very same sequence could turn in to a win tomorrow. It's not indicative of a "slide".

Come on now, should Homan have tried to bunt a ball over his head with 2 strikes? Of course not. But to say he was being selfish is ignorant. He was trying to do what the coaches told him to do. It just didn't work out.

Pretty tough to call any sacrifice bunt attempt selfish.

If you are the #9 hitter, you BETTER know how to bunt. It's being selfish because he had not prepared. Trying a modified drag bunt shows he was not prepared for the situation. Again, how the heck does a #9 hitter not know how to bunt????

Trying and failing isn't the same thing as "not knowing the situation". Melton's first strike was because he was trying to elevate a curve, not swinging for the fences. Homan clearly knew the situation and was trying to bunt but didn't.

People act like the only reason you lose baseball games is because the team or coaches are stupid, not because there's a pitcher on the other side actively trying to get you out.

You do realize our #9 hitter could be a lead off or #2 batter on any other team, right? RC plays smart by having our 3rd best hitter batting in the #9 spot

Its not a game of of inches. It's a game of 1/4 inches. And the inches between your ears. Baseball is a team sport but you find yourself on a island many times in a single game. Let's Get'r Done Damnit!

Pretty big assumption to assume Homan didn't get a bunt down because he's too lazy to practice.

I'm not certain you've watched Homan enough.
