The SEC is exploring options since this is the last year for the Hoover contract. I believe Memphis, Nashville, and Jacksonville all have put in bids.

Has to seat over 10k according to SEC office which takes some of those off the list.

While some of you may enjoy Tampa, it is not near as centrally located as is Hoover, Memphis and even Nashville. When you have a lot of the fan bases able to drive less, it is preferrable

Tampa isn't even easy to get to from Gainesville. I went to Gainesville via Tampa this year and the drive both ways was awful.

I hope they find a very attractive ballpark at a vacation destination that allows them to sellout 10K seats while significantly raising prices. Otherwise, what's the point of the SECT exactly?

If centrally located was important to the SEC we wouldn't play our Football championship in Atlanta

People travel for football way better than baseball.

Not according to Google. ESPN seats 9500, I know Birmingham is less than 10k because it was discussed, and Tampa is 8k I believe. And Clearwater is 8500. That is why they came down to the stadiums that they did which is Nashville, Memphis, Jacksonville, and Metairie.

I personally think that the 10k minimum is a clear sign they want to keep it in Hoover which sucks.. I would love Memphis or Nashville personally.

Comparing apples and oranges IMO. Football is a single game where unless you're Bama a rather rare event for most fan bases. Baseball is a 12 team, 17 game event, the good teams rarely miss, IMO this makes ease n travel a far larger factor.

I think it should alternate from a west div to east area div year to year. Take some planning and negotiating to find the locations. Could change year to year or be the same 2 every time. Give all fans a better chance to see the tourney. If not, needs to be in middle as best as possible for fairness.

Hoover would always be the west, so not sure why it would matter. They have little trouble in fan support.

yes, the 200 fans at the Missouri/Vandy game would be really put off if the games were somewhere else.

First round morning games are always lightly attended.
1. It is first round morning
2. It is not double elimination, so team involved not guareenteed two games.
3. One of the teams is not very good.

you really expect Missouri fans to travel for a morning game to Hoover when their team is not very good and if they lose they go home? No way. That is why the attendance goes up dramatically after first round along with teams expecting to win. If they would change format, they would get more people to early round games.

Atlanta is not convenient for us, but for Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi and Miss State it is a pretty good spot. Even Kentucky, not bad for them. Really only bad for Arkansas, LSU, Missouri and Us.

Agree. And though Memphis generally sucks, the ballpark is in a great location right across the street from the Peabody. Everything is walking distance. And I repeat, Hoover sucks.

I guess you missed where I said it was a multigame event. With day one being single elimination on a Tuesday, all will probably be lightly attended except possibly Bama/Kentucky.

I like Nashville as best location. Memphis would be second choice.

If Montgomery, AL was a bigger stadium the location would be a lot of fun down town, near lots of bars, hotels and restaurants. But stadium only holds 7K

I think it should be in Hawaii at Les Murakami Stadium.

Les Murakami Stadium is named after the legendary UH baseball skipper Les Murakami. It is widely regarded as one of the finest collegiate ballparks in the nation. Originally known as Rainbow Stadium, LMS has had numerous renovations, mostly recently the addition of a brand new Daktronics state of the art video scoreboard over right centerfield. The stadium has also had its turf and seats replaced along with the stadium's roof and speaker

But drat, only 4,300 seats.

Plus, the only Missouri fans who travel are Missouri moms.

that's too bad. I mentioned this on here last year, but MGM Park just got finished last year in Biloxi. Right across the street from the beach. The Beau Rivage Casino & Resort is in the view as the stadium points towards the ocean.

Seats just over 6K though. But that would be the perfect venue for the SEC baseball tournament.

The first one or two SEC-C games were at Legion Field in Birmingham. Atlanta is only 3 hours away and easy to get to for ALL SEC teams and most fans. A 12 hour drive from Dallas to Atlanta isn't exactly fun, but its easy.

It isn't centrally located so much as it is easy to get to -- GIVEN the available options. I can see the SEC-C game one of these days at Reliant or the Super Dome. Or Jacksonville. Or Nashville. Or possibly even St. Louis.

If Chattanooga could upgrade their field, they could be in the running at some point in the future.

Have you been to Memphis recently?

I guess downtown is OK during daylight hours but I wouldn't want to be anywhere in that city after dark.

I'll posit this again: Kick the Big 12 out of OKC and have the SEC tournament in Bricktown.

To get the bubble teams a few more quality wins so they can get into the field of 64. Why else is the field 12 of 14 teams instead of the top 8?

And I think that 10k minimum means they really don't want to move. And no way you get the SEC tourney in Texas. What is there to do in Frisco anyway? Sounds just like Hoover but closer.

Good points all around, but there are enough corndogs in the stands in Hoover as it is.

Memphis is a sh*thole. I took my family there 3 years ago and we literally feared for our lives.

It should, they toured Olsen and the design was based on Olsen.
