When it was all said and done, A&M played the #23 strength of schedule...which is pretty amazing when you consider how bad our non-conference games were. Shows you how tough our games were in the SEC tourney, regional and super regional.

small consolation...but #10 in the final polls seems about right.

finishing with the #23 SoS is rather commendable too. That means A&M was in the top 10% in the country.

only 5 teams in 2015 crossed the 50-win barrier:

54 - LSU
53 - none
52 - Florida
51 - TCU, Vanderbilt
50 - A&M

There's just one huge difference between A&M and the other 50+ win teams.

just for fun...let's see how the preseason pollsters did.

here was Baseball America's preseason top 25: http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/cws-champion-vanderbilt-1-2015-college-preseason-top-25/

1. Vanderbilt
2. LSU
3. Houston
4. Virginia
5. Texas Tech
6. Florida
7. TCU
8. OK State
9. Miami
10. t.u.

looking at the top 10...as the board predicted in February...the Big 12 was vastly over-rated. Tech and t.u. were the epic fails of the first poll. Houston was about 20 spots too high. OK State about 10 spots too high.

11. UCLA
12. Louisville
13. South Carolina
14. Mississippi State
15. Rice
16. Maryland
17. North Carolina
18. Arizona State
19. Kennesaw State
20. Oregon

in the next group of 10, BA missed badly on traditional SEC powers: Carolina and State. Also on North Carolina and Kennesaw State. And both Rice and Oregon were 5 or so spots too high.

21. Florida State
22. Central Florida
23. Fullerton
24. Clemson
25. Liberty

Baseball America had 7 of the 8 Omaha teams in their preseason poll and 6 of the 8 national seeds. But also had 7 teams in the poll that did not make a regional. Plus 2 more teams in Oregon and t.u. that barely squeaked into the field.

the 2 glaring omissions to the preseason poll were A&M and Arkansas. And then to a lesser extent UCSB, Southern Cal, DBU, Illinois, and Missouri State. So in the end, BA's accuracy was somewhere between 60% and 70% with regard to identifying and evaluating the top 25 teams

here was D1Baseball's preseason poll: http://www.d1baseball.com/rankings/2015preseasont25/

1. Vanderbilt
2. Florida
3. Virginia
4. UCLA
5. South Carolina -- missed regional
6. North Carolina -- missed regional
7. TCU
8. Houston
9. LSU
10. t.u.
11. Louisville
12. OK State
13. Rice
14. Maryland
15. Miami
16. Tech -- missed regional
17. A&M
18. Ole Miss
19. Fullerton
20. Alabama -- missed regional
21. Florida State
22. Oregon
23. Nebraska -- missed regional
24. Arizona State
25. Tennessee -- missed regional

Similar to Baseball America, D1 had 7 of the 8 Omaha teams in their preseason poll and 6 of the 8 national seeds. Missed badly on the two Carolina schools in the top 6 though. Also misread 2 other SEC teams in Alabama and Tennessee. Over-rated the Big12 and most schools in Texas. Nineteen of their 25 teams made regionals. Might have only been 17 of 25, but again Oregon and t.u. squeaked in.

Again similar to BA, the key omissions were Arkansas, Missouri State, DBU, Southern Cal, UCSB, and Illinois.
Ironically the one team D1 soundly trumped BA on prediction-wise was...Texas A&M.

That puts D1's accuracy in the 65% to 75% range -- slightly better than Baseball America's
