Everybody saying Childress should remember Rice beating Graham's 2nd or 3rd pitcher "misremembered". They actually beat Rice's ace.

That was a fun regional. Watching their 3rd baseman round the bases after the 3 run homer to the chants of "Herman Herman Herman" TSU had a nice extra cheering section that night since it was after the lightning delay and a lot of Ags had showed up for our game which didn't start till late.

Yes it was! I was drunk as balls by the time the 2.5 hour rain delay ended. (Probably why I didn't remember it was Humber).

Sort of. Rice had three Friday caliber arms that year. Humber wasn't their Friday guy so in the traditional sense he wasn't their ace but he was that good. All three of those guys were probably better than Long has been this year.

Yep, those were the days when Rice usually had 3 or 4, "1's".

Townsend was their ace.

Didn't they have 3 pitchers go in the first round that year?

What a great ending to that series though. I just remember going nuts on the slam.

Niemann, Humber, and Townsend were all aces. Period.

that regional was classic Graham...

Humber who threw 8 innings vs. TSU on Friday came on in relief on Sunday vs. the Ags.

and Townsend who started vs. Lamar on Saturday was warming up in the pen.

To Graham's credit...he by and large quit doing that stuff about 6 of 7 years ago -- interesting though that it kind of corresponded with Rice's decline in dominance on the national level
