The only run he gave up was on a green light 3-0 fastball in the first.

I DVRed the game but haven't watched it yet.

After Rosenthal blew his 1-0 lead last week, Wacha moves to 6-0 on the season. He gave up 2 runs on one swing of the bat to Daniel Murphy but that was all the damage as he threw 104 pitches in 7 innings of a 10-2 Cards win over the Mets. Final line: 2 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, 5Ks. Actually raises his ERA to 2.13 and keeps him undefeated on the season.

With a little luck on the weather and at work I hope to get to see Wacha pitch in Kansas City on Sunday.

He also laid down a successful safety squeeze with two strikes AND had a bunt single (which might have actually been another squeeze and the man on 3B missed the sign.)

On the single, Wacha laid down a snap bunt and no one covered first base... pitcher, first, and second basemen all tried to field it.

Yep. He had an RBI and a run scored, so if this were hockey his +/- would be pretty damn good.

Maybe his best outing of the year today. Against a VERY good hitting lineup he gave up one unearned run. Two of his hits were against the shift which should piss off every pitcher everywhere. He did give up his almost every game bomb but it curved just foul down the right field line.

Best of all, for he first game I've watched him this season he kept his pitch count low and were it not for a big lead (and a long Cardinals at bat in the Top of 8) he could have easily gone 8, possibly 9 innings if needed. But I think they wanted to get Rosenthal some work since he hadn't pitched in 4 days.

I've argued to my friends all year that Wacha was an Aggie karma suck this year. We have played like sheet on the nights he pitched. Tonight was no different.

To make things even worse, just as the Ags lost the game, Wacha gave up a 3 run HR and will take his first loss on the year, moving to 7-1.

This is only the 2nd of his 10 starts where he hasn't faced the ace of the other staff. It just set up as the ultimate let-down game. He looked pretty good until the middle innings then scuffled and gave up the bomb.

Bad day all around Aggies.
