Heading to New York City for the first time next weekend. Looking for any suggestions for dinner spots with a good atmosphere in the Chelsea/West Village area.

If you like tapas, Alta is excellent.

Ipuddo is the best ramen house I've been to.

Red Farm was a really cool dim sum place near Central Park. Great lunch spot.

There are quite a few top-shelf restaurants in the area, if you want an expensive dinner. I recommend Ai Fiori for Italian.

Thanks for the suggestions!

We made a reservation for a place in West Village called "Employees Only".

Not sure how crazy you're looking to get but the wife and I splurged and went to Le Bernadin last year and it was totally worth it.

Spice Market is absolutely incredible. Babo's as well. Felidia's is good as well. Too many to name!

This isn't what you really asked for but in case you're inclined: my wife and I went a couple of years ago and we didn't have tons of ideas so we kinda did the Food Network chef restaurant thing. Mario Batali's Babbo wasn't great. But we had a great lunch at Bobby Flay's Bar American and a really good brunch at his Mesa Grill. Fran Tarkenton sat next to us.
