My Fiance is graduating in December with a degree in Bio Environmental Science and is having a hard time finding many entry level positions in the San Antonio area. Anyone on here that has any leads or potential openings that yall can steer our way would be greatly appreciated.

Shes been using indeed.com, usjobs.gov along with what A&M offers to help but all the jobs shes finding are houston.

This is Britney the fiance , I'm looking for an entry level position in the environmental sectors relating to environmental consulting, remediation , sampling and monitoring , renewable resources , pathology , microbiology , ecology , or research and development.

Im not looking for anything relating to the medical field. I do have internship experience with a wind energy company, and I am currently a lab assistant for research and development in the plant pathology department, Along with various other classes and labs that I have taken while at A&M.

Adams Environmental, Terracon, RK, Argus Environmental, Arias & Associates, STC Environmental, Medina Consulting - that's just from quick Google search

TetraTech, AMEC, URS/AECOM, ECC, Lakeshore Engineering - all big Federal Contractors who do environmental work. San Antonio benefits from JBSA bringing the fed jobs (sometimes). Try the firms like Booz Allen Hamilton, Portage, Parsons, and Jacobs who often have contracts to provide warm bodies in different technical areas.

Gonzalez + De La Garza Associates had part of a big SAWS contract that likely had some environmental stuff to it.

The market is kind of soft now. For the federal contractors (mentioned before), there have been some pretty big contracts that ended so there are a lot of people that were on those that are also looking. Heard Weston just had another round of layoffs. You may look at the oil companies locally, also hard to get in there if you don't have an inside contact but they do have spots at times.

Keep patient and don't get discouraged.

Also, some of those testing firms mentioned may contract work with smaller testing labs. Terracon uses someone in New Braunfels for asbestos I know. So consider that...

You might also ask civil engineering contacts to see who they may know for site remediation work at the contractor level. They may need someone who can read/follow a spec.

San Antonio is decently positioned as a Texas city as far as renewable resources. Solar San Antonio is a non-profit that recommends qualified contractors/installers to promote solar energy use. CPS may even have something but that's probably a tougher place to get into - maybe not. They subsidize their conventional energy sources with a wind program.

In the meantime, get involved in professional organizations and network. Meet as many people as you can and take advantage of having one of the best alumni clubs in the nation at your disposal. Go to the happy hours.
