Drywood Termites

We live in Navasota. We woke up Tuesday morning finding a ****ton of drywood termite pellets in our gardening room that is attached to our carport. Our carport shares attic with the living area. We are in that room every day so we know it was recent. We cleaned up everything and saved some pellets for identification.

Had a pest guy out yesterday confirming it was drywood termites, but he couldn't find any other evidence in our home. He was residential guy and needs the commercial person to come in give an evaluation and estimate for treatment. Have another company coming out on Monday for a second opinion.

Question for TA, is whole home fumigation really the only/best option? I have read about some spot treatments, but most require finding the colony, which we haven't located (we can easily access the attic above that room and no evidence up there either). And if we have to fumigate, anyone been through that and wouldn't mind sharing a little info on the process?

What I understand is that we basically move out of our home for a week, tent, fumigate, air out, then clean the house and move back in. Which is going to be a ton of fun with two under five.

That's worst case, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a spot treatment.

1980

Builder did not provide termite pro treatment so I had to pre-treat DIY pre-slab pour.
Couple of years later, termites found expansion joint in slab, came up interior stud wall where a hole near ceiling appeared where they got stuck.
Poison - no longer legal - down the hole, well sealed against cancer, never more.
Scouting house perimeter since and only OTC DIY topicals once in a blue moon takes care of all that.

What the pros propose is one of that ways you are guaranteed a free re-treat IF they ever come back.
Do the math in P&O to figure how to bid such a deal to understand it.
IMHO and am sticking to it

Thanks everyone. We found the colony in a shim behind a faux-ship lap wall. Removed all shiplap, shims, and pulled dry wall out to expose studs. Treating studs with BoraCare on the advice from Texas Entomology Extension specialist out our dear old University (exceedingly helpful). It think we are good for now, but will go nuclear option if they reappear.

I would lay down some Termidor also if you have the area opened up.
