I am going to Scottsdale for my bachelor party the second weekend in December. We have rented a house Wed-Sun near Old Town and are looking for some recommendations on courses to play. Thursday i think we are going to play the TPC but are open Fri and Saturday to any other course around the area (in which i hear there are a TON). Also, anything else besides golf that would be fun to do?? I know there is a Casino and maybe horse racing...Thanks for your help!

When I went I played We-Ko-Pa's Saguaro course. It is one of the top rated courses in the area and is connected to a hotel/casino I think. Look it up - it gets a lot of good reviews.

Coming in December rates are going to be inflated on any course you play out here. There are a number of top courses in the area to choose from...
Troon North- fairly close to where you are staying and always a good choice. $$$
We Ko Pa- Would be a pretty good drive from where you're at but it would be worth it. $$
Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain- Great course, probably an hour drive from old town area though. $$
Boulders- Closer to you and a great course as well. $$$
Whirlwind- Troon run course, 30 minute drive from there and a step below these others. But a very solid option. $

As far as casinos go, Talking Stick is the only one worth going to. It is by far the nicest one here.

Catch a Cardinals game if you're here when they are playing, stadium is something to see.
Old town is the place to go out, it's pricey but a very good time with a ton of talent out there.
Camelback Mountain is the most popular hike in that area, always has a ton of people, but it's still a good time.

Don't waste your time on a Suns game, they stink and nobody shows up unless a big name is in town (Lebron).

Don't waste your time or money at TPC either .

Wekopa, Troon and Bolders are the best.

I did the same thing a few years ago. We played gold canyon dinosaur and it's worth the drive.

Only play tpc if you are dead set on playing it. Much better courses for the same price

Make sure to hit the Scottsdale bars at night. We found a bar givin free tequila and that's all I remember for the night.

We played We-Ko-Pa, Troon and Greyhawk and enjoyed them all.

We-Ko-Pa was my favorite as it was the only true desert course. Its also next to a casino if you want to lose a few bucks.

I've also played Greyhawk at a differnt time. Fun course but not near as fun as Gold Canyon. Golf Canyon was beyond my expectations. They also had a lady there doing warm-up massages for $5. Never seen that before.

One of the coolest part about Greyhawk was Phil's Grill. Its full of a ton of Mickelson's stuff from various tourneys. As a Phil fan I really enjoyed it.

troon north is legit. I think TPC is worth playing if you are into playing the courses on tour, otherwise, you won't be too impressed. I happened to play it when the grandstands were still up and it made for a better experience on #16.

Second some of those already named. WeKoPa, Boulders, Greyhawk. Look at Legend Trail, as well as a course now called Tegavah. Used to be called Vista Verde and is now being reopened after a modification by Tom Lehman.

Played both wekopa courses and loved them. Actually enjoyed greyhawk a bit more, and it's a little closer.

Is there anything else to do there once the golf is done?

Someone suggested I go there instead of Vegas for a celebratory golf vacation and I just laughed.

We may take the advice and skip on TPC to play Greyhawk or one of the other suggested courses! Thanks for the tips!

You might try Quintero. It's a little bit of a trip, but I like the golf course.

TPC is meh. I really enjoyed Sunridge Canyon. The wicked six is one of the more challenging stretches of holes I have played. Whirlwind, Devil's Claw was a fun track. I try to go out there once a year.

I used to stay at the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs and the course there was always a lot of fun. Lookout Mountain Golf Course.

Thanks for all the recommendations! I think we are going to play We-Ko-Pa since it is the closest from the house of the mentioned courses. Plus we got lucky and the week we are going is Scottsdale Golf Week 2016 and a ton of courses have awesome specials all week!

I was just there a few weeks ago. Played Sun Ridge Canyon, Grey Hawk and drove up to Flagstaff to play Pine Canyon.

Sun Ridge was fun, Grey Hawk was badass and pine canyon is one of the best courses I've ever played. Scottsdale is awesome. Definitely a place I could see myself living if I wasn't married to Texas.
