I have an old Taylormade R5 dual laying around and I am thinking of putting a low spin/low launch shaft in as a project.

Currently I have to stock shaft and don't care for the trajectory.

I would like to keep this under $100 and don't mind a used shaft.

Any ideas?

Low Launch/Low Spin...and very inexpensive...Grafalloy ProLaunch Red.

Should be able to get one for < $50.

It's a stout shaft.

Edit...Dang how these things have come down in price over the years...its an older shaft, but, its a good shaft. Here is a new uncut PL for $15.

The shaft tip is .335.

The TP hosel bore is .335...if TP, just sand, glue, and trim.

Non-TP is .350...if .350, you'll need a brass shim. Should be able to get one for free at GolfSmith if you ask.

I had an old Callaway FT Tour driver with the ProLaunch Red in it. That thing went a mile when I hit it on the screws. Great shaft regardless of price. For $15?! That's as much bang for the buck as you'll get in this game.

I just bought and reshafted my driver with a Fujikura Rombax shaft I found on eBay for $89. Found several of them in varying flex's as well. LOVE this shaft! Take a look.
