He is perfect for Fox. They need someone like him so Joe Buck doesn't talk.

This is a travesty. Feherity is absolute brilliance, and is needed in the stuffy golf world. I can't stress enough how much I like this guy and how much he contributes to the CBS broadcasts. His talk show on the Golf Channel is one of the better watches on television.

I'm guessing that he ends up on NBC due to its relationship with the Golf Channel, and that network needs it. Their sports coverage in general is awful, and their announcing team on NBC proper is almost unwatchable to me.

I think NBC is the best coverage.

CBS is terrible. Jim Nantz is so full of himself. His claim to fame is his college roommate but he acts like he's a former great player rather than an announcer. Dan Hicks blows him away.

Gary McCord's schtick has gotten old, Baker - Finch gushes over everyone and Kostis gloats over Paul Casey.

Hope Feherty ends up at NBC.

I have to watch CBS on mute because of McCord and Nantz

Huge Feherty fan here. I bet he can't wait to run far, far away from McCord. NBC should get this done post haste. Having him and and Maltbie on the course would be just about perfect.

NBC will have the Olympics, Ryder Cup, and British Open starting in 2018. I'm guessing he goes there as well.

They should have given him Nantz' job and paid him whatever he wanted. I ****ing hate Nantz. Cannot listen to it.

Love the guy. Would be a hoot to just hang out with him a few days.

Feherty Quotes:

"Fortunately, Rory is 22 years old so his right wrist should be the
strongest muscle in his body."

"That ball is so far left, Lassie couldn't find it if it was wrapped
in bacon."

" I am sorry Nick Faldo couldn't be here this week.
He is attending the birth of his next wife."

Jim Furyk's swing "looks like an octopus falling out of a tree."
Describing VJ Singh's prodigious practice regime -
"VJ hits more balls than Elton John's chin." (Thought I was going to hurt myself laughing at this one.)

"That's a great shot with that swing."
"It's OK - the bunker stopped it."

At Augusta 2011 - "It's just a glorious day.
The only way to ruin a day like this would be to play golf on it."

"That was a great shot - if they'd have put the pin there today."

"Watching Phil Mickelson play golf is like watching a drunk chasing
a balloon near the edge of a cliff."

"That green appears smaller than a Pygmie's nipple".

David Feherty Signs With NBC; Role Will Extend Beyond Sports

quote:
quote:
David Feherty has signed with NBC Sports Group in a deal that will see the golf commentator expand beyond sports. In addition to appearing as a golf analyst on NBC Sports and Golf Channel telecasts, the pact includes a "first look development deal" with Universal Television that will lead to entertainment-based shows. A formal announcement is planned for later this morning. As for the golf, Feherty primarily will be a walking on-course reporter for NBC and Golf Channel's telecasts, which include PGA Tour events, the Olympics, Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup. He will be in the tower on occasion. The deal also ensures the continuation of Golf Channel's "Feherty" talk show, which debuted in '11.

Earlier this month, Feherty's negotiations broke down with CBS Sports, his main TV home for the past 19 years. Sources said talks broke down for a number of reasons. The two were far apart on price; sources said Feherty was seeking to more than double his CBS salary. Feherty also wanted on-air roles beyond golf, pushing to be part of CBS' football and basketball telecasts, sources said. CBS retained an exclusive negotiating window for the next two weeks, and Feherty signed with NBC shortly after it ended.

LOL, sounds like he made unrealistic demands of CBS he could get out from CBS and over to NBC/Golf Channel, where he knew he could have more professional latitude. "hmmm, In addition to doubling my golf commentator salary, I will need to be the play-by-play guy broadcaster for all NFL playoff games broadcast by CBS, for additional compensation fee, of course."

I once heard him say after one of Spencer Levin's swings: "He looks like he's trying to set a hook in a bonefish".

He has talent that will ultimately be used for bigger things. But I think he'll still do some golf at some level, it's in his DNA.
