Anyone have good course recommendations in west / southwest Houston? Trying to set up a morning round with some buddies the morning of the ASU game. Looking for a nice track and enjoyable round for a bunch of bogey golfers (on a good day). $60 is probably the sweet spot as far as cost goes.

Thanks in advance.

Based on your budget:

Quail Valley
Cinco Ranch
Sienna Plantation
Pinecrest (not pretty, but on the west side)

Greatwood - Out in Sugarland; Fun tract that's always in decent shape; Right at your price point
Wildcat - In great shape right now and right close to NRG; A bit over $60 but if you check out teeoff.com you can find deals around $35-50
River Ridge - West side of town out in Sealy; Nice course out in the woods; Right around your price point

Check out River Pointe as well, heard it's in good condition lately. Should be under 60 bucks as well.

Riverpointe is far from NRG.

The answer is wildcat, it's in the shadows of the stadium. It's more than $60 but less than $90. It's worth the difference for the convenience factor plus they have a decent 19th hole as well.

Agree on Wildcat. Your next closest option to NRG on the southwest side is Hermann Park. It's cheaper than Wildcat since municipal; however, I would pay the money and play the Wildcat Highlands course for some scenic Houston views.

Southwyck is a little further down from wildcat but still keeps you close. Havent played it in years but rates should be around your budget.

No clue on the conditions but the psuedo links style out there is different enough to be enjoyable. Definately would play wildcat if your willing to spend the extra though.

Was having the same idea. What about suggestions on the north side near the Woodlands?

If you're far enough north (like 105 and 45) checkout West Fork. It's a hidden gem!

Cheap, great layout, and very nice condition.

Thanks again for the suggestions guys. I ended up booking the lakes course at Wildcat. Found a 15% off rate at the teeoff.com link provided above.

As for the north side I've played Woodforest before and thought it was a really cool course. Probably worth checking the tee off site. It seemed to have a pretty good selection of deals on Houston area courses.
