My 8 year old is finally getting interested in playing golf. I know there is a pitch in putt on Northwest Highway in Dallas. Any recommendations for other places where he can learn on the course and get a feel for the game?

Watters Creek up off 75 and Legacy has a few options:

1) Futures course - par 3 pitch and putt (6 holes)
2) Players course - 9 hole "practice" course (6 par 3's and 3 par 4's; no forced carries from the forward tees)
3) nice grass driving range along with a really nice chipping area with 3 green complexes

The Practice Tee right next to UTD in Richardson has a Par 3 course. However, I'm not sure a single hole is more than 100 yards but since your kid is only 8 maybe that's what you're looking for.

Off I-30 in Ft. Worth, Waterchase has a 9 hole Par 3 course.
Nice facility.

We're in Prosper, so I'd like to stick to north of i30 and east of the airport.

There is one in Lewisville that I took my kids too a few times when I lived there. It was a blast. Can't think of the name of it now but google par 3 lewisville and it will come up.

And bring some Off.

Lake Park is the one in Lewisville.

The pitch and putt at Watter's Creek is perfect for an 8 year old.

Went to the Practice Tee in Richardson this morning. Pretty good setup for the first day. Lake park looks promising too. The futures course at Waters Creek look like trouble because of the lake on a couple holes.

lake park is great.. the executive 9 is 1 to 1.5 hours if you can avoid slow play.

Also, there is timberlinks in denton. It is a 9 hole but it is not a par 3. I just ride up closer to the green and let my 6yr tee off from there.

Yep. Lake Park is the name of it.

I would take my kids up there, from 2-6 years old, and tee it up about thirty yards out. They had a blast.
