I first thought you were playing Blackhorse in Seaside, CA on the old Fort Ord. One of the two courses the base had that got turned over to the city of Seaside.

Play either one if you ever get the chance. They were outstanding golf courses when I was there in the 80s. Have both been renovated since.

South course is what they are famous for. Probably my favorite course in houston

Half of the South Course back nine is what they are famous for. The rest of the course is good, but not great. Same with the back nine on the North Course. The front on the North is one of the best nines around, however. Not a bad hole on that loop.
