Instead of your warm up consisting of swinging at 2 cigarette butts and a dandelion, consider mixing in a couple of pine cones before you tee off as well.

That's almost news worthy. He went from playing like touring professional to a newbie weekend hack all within one round.

I went 52-34 (maybe it was 48-34?) a few months back.

I did 34-48 in an AJGA qualifying event back in 1990. I rarely got the opportunity to do AJGA events, but I qualified for the Ben Hogan Boys Junior in 1990 by shooting a 68 in my qualifier at PrestonWood CC. I felt like I had just qualified for a major, especially since the tournament was at Las Colinas Sports Club, where they play The Nelson. That was the coolest thing ever. I drove straight to the tournament after my qualifier to check-in and they hadn't gotten word yet who even qualified, so I had to wait a bit.

Somehow in Round 1 I managed to get around the front nine in one under 34. if anyone is familiar with Last Colinas, there is a small bathroom house behind #9/#5 green on your way to #10. I stopped in there and while staring at the mirror I gave myself a little pep talk (rarely had I ever been in this position and I was honestly a bit frightened. I was only 17 at the time).

It didn't work. My brother was a member there some years after and every time I played there I avoided that bathroom and am haunted by the memory.
