I searched and didn't find any threads discussing the public golf options in Pensacola (Destin for sure)...

Our RTJ trip is only going to Magnolia Grove and Lakewood in the Mobile area. Cambrian Ridge is going to be down to 18 so we aren't going up North.

We were thinking maybe the Pensacola area would be a good place to make another pit stop. Anybody have any inside info?

My buddy started with Lost Key but I wanted to see if there were any gems we need to play. Price isn't really a factor if the conditions warrant.

Thanks in advance!

A few years ago, I played at Tiger Point Golf Club in Gulf Breeze and it was a good course for a pretty reasonable price. The one on the Navy base looks to be a nice course when I've driven by but I'm assuming you have to be active or retired military to play it.

Thanks, appreciate the input! I was wondering about Tiger Point. It says they have 2 courses? East and West. I wonder if one is better than the other?

I can't recall which one we played but I'm sure both are great.

Kiva Dunes is a great course located just west of Gulf Shores toward Fort Morgan and is rated as one of the best courses in Alabama. It is a daily fee course and you can book tee times online. If you are inclined to go eastward toward Destin, drive the additional distance to Camp Creek Golf Club. It too is highly rated and a beautiful track. Last year it went private so you'll need to be a member of a private club and have your head golf professional make a call to get you on.

We will be in Orange Beach (Gulf Shores, AL) the first week of August.

I asked my buddies that live in Alabama if they had any recommendations for me.
Here is a copy & paste of what they sent me.

- Gulf State Park Golf Course, most affordable, ~$45 for 18 and a cart.

- Soldier's Creek, good place to play, ~$55 for 18 and a cart.

- Kiva Dunes, one of top courses in Alabama, excellent, ~$100 for 18 and a cart.

- Lost Key, locals call it 'Lost Ball', lots of water/marshes, very nice, ~$100 for 18 and a cart.

- Craft Farms, 36 holes, Arnold Palmer designed, also very nice, ~$90 for 18 and a cart.

Much appreciated!

So far I think we're down to Kiva Dunes, Lost Key and Country Club of Brewton.

"Lost Ball" doesn't sound that fun though...

Don't know if you are flying or driving but Biloxi, MS isn't too far from Pensacola. You've got Grand Bear and Fallen Oak. The latter may be casino tee times only.

We play at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. It's ok. Eat at McGuire's. Our place is in Orange Beach and Kiva Dunes is a nice course.

We are driving to Mobile, and playing a couple of days there at Magnolia Grove and Lakewood. Then we are looking for one more spot to play before ending in Destin.

I think so far the leader in the clubhouse is Brewton... our group is a bunch of suckers for the serene out of the way golf, which it seems this course provides. Thanks for the heads up on Kiva Dunes too, that place looks fabulous.
