I'm looking for a specific shaft, but I can't find one that is set up for my driver. If I buy one that has an adapter to fit a Ping or a Callaway, is it pretty easy/inexpensive to take it to a golf shop and have them put the adapter in for my R11?

Short answer = Yes its easy...and should cost no more than $20 + new adapter to get it done.

Need to be mindful of the adapter lengths though...if the original adapter is shorter than a R11 adapter you may have some shaft prep showing...if so, just tip the shaft .25 to .5 inches.

bagger - I did this myself, and i'm not exactly handy or good with tools..

so if I can do it - anyone can...

I like diamana shafts, and wanted one for my SLDR. but they were expensive

so I bought a uncut diamana shaft on ebay. paid like $45 for it.
then bought the SLDR adaptor sleeve on ebay. it was less than $10
then bought quick dry epoxy at golfsmith

cut the shaft to length, mixed the epoxy, and put the adaptor on the shaft

then added a grip....

hasn't come flying off yet...:-)

I recently installed a shaft myself, wanted to experiment a steel shaft on a 3 wood, needed a specific tip. Got the shaft off ebay, and put it together myself. Like booradley, I'm am not good with tools (wont even try my own grips). Actually went to the local golf etc. And they gave me a ferrule to fit.
