We already know the Big XII is lousy at negotiations. Their TV deals stink on ice and they managed to run off four flagship universities in 18 months.

What a smack down from fox and ESPN. They weren't going to be held hostage to that clause. It's like the BDF is on a ledge holding life insurance papers and threatening to jump. They are worth more dead than alive. Any conference willing to take on sub-par teams to collect money they didn't earn is beyond desperate.

ESPN and Fox would have made the BDF take them to court or worse. Win or lose, they would have held up payments for years, just in time of contract renewal. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Complete and total disaster of a conference.

Once again, the Big XII is completely inept at managing the PR game. Two things of note needed to come out of the meeting last week. No expansion and the CCG numbers and location. Put the emphasis on the positives (such as they are) of the increased revenue from the CCG starting in 2017.

Waiting two weeks before the CCG announcement just allows the bad taste from the whiff on expansion to hang around too long.

Of course, a CCG after a full RR is idiotic but they could at least puff their chests out about getting some coin out of the deal. Plus, they could just bundle the payola for not expanding with the CCG and push the aggregate number.

This saga reminds me of the southpark episode where Canada declares war on the US. The prime minister calls it a great moral victory, but the few who survive receive something like a $25 gift card to Bennigans as reparations.
