Maybe Tech should put their WRs out on Defense. Heck, they might run better patterns and catch some of the opponent's passes.

That sarcasm isn't helpful. Strong is a top tier coach who's won big everywhere he's been. Mack left a team way short on talent and way long on bad attitudes and entitlement. Strong has completly rebuilt the fiber of the team. People close to the program know that and beleive in what he's doing. The Longhorn leaders aren't going to throwaway all Strong's progress to placate the media, blow hard donors with questionable motives, or t-shirt fans with nothing invested in the school.

JDL you're right on the money. He's building that program up brick by brick. However, the fans are restless and the media keeps talking about his imminent firing. If the admin is smart they'll go ahead and lock him up for another 5 years, so the recruits will know he's staying and hop aboard that train.

He deserves at least three more years to get his own players installed and fully trained at every position and to completely rid the program of the bad culture and bad attitudes which were so deeply entrenched from 16 years of Mack Brown and Cleve Bryant's "anything goes" regime. I'm not overstating the cold hard facts when I say it will be a tragedy of massive proportions for every man, woman, and child in the state if he is fired before 2020 by short-sighted impatient Texas exes who don't understand what's at stake.

Well said, JDL. I had begun to wonder whether anyone at the Forty Acres had any sense? Good to see a steady reasoned supportive voice for Strong and glad to hear the leaders and people close to the program believe in what he is doing and aren't going to throw away all the progress he has made.

I hate that they hired Strong. He is the biggest threat to Aggie recruiting and prestige of any coach I can think of. The sooner they dump him the better. We joke about core values, but it has totally changed the dynamic for college football especially in Texas. If the meddling donors wouldn't be forcing him to keep changing assistants they would probably be in the playoffs this year. I say good riddance and let the horns suffer without him.
