It is almost sad how OU lets themselves get led around by the nose by tu and then whines in the press when they can't do anything about it.

Every school with a true option has exercised it. They need to have a plan for the next round of realignment and brace themselves as it seems theyre headed back to the 90's.
So, they figure this out after schools waste their time and resources meeting with the conference. What a bunch of azzholes.

I can't believe they actually went and spent money to garner attention for new conference members when they simply could have read Old Rivalries output for the last 5 years about how screwed the Big12 was when we left.
It really just boggles my mind. Fertita is going to be so pissed he might just guarantee Herman an absurd salary to spite everyone at this point.

I thought I read here, that when we left and that the Big 12 negotiated the TV deals so that the total payout would be the same. So the networks would pay the same for less content. As part of that they said they eliminated the "look in" part of the contract, so that the payout would not go up if there was expansion.
Dunno if that came from an actual new article or not. But it makes sense why the networks would freak out now. They're already paying over market, their subscriber base is dwindling, and the Big12 wants to add a Houston team that nets them ZERO additional subscriber fees.
But then that article says the TV contract owes them additional payout for another school. An equal share. Is Tramel speculating there? If the contract does say that then that would explain why the networks are threatening lawsuit. They're either going to bat over the wording of the contract, or they think the Horn plan of hording that extra share among current members somehow violates the contract.

I think they have figured out that, in order for the BDF to expand, they would have to extend GOR.
That's why it is a nightmare. It isn't real.
ou cannot make it as an independent. ou needs the rrs to recruit. tu holds the cards.
