I think we should wait to see who we replace Oregon with before we start calling for Hyman to get busted outta here.

Rumor has it that the replacement will be satisfactory.

Satisfactory meaning a top 15 team from a real conference, not the BDF.

Texas A&M has the opted out of a home-and-home series with Oregon that was set for games in 2018 and 2019, FOX Sports confirmed Thursday.

Aggie athletic director Eric Hyman exercised a clause from the contract A&M and the Ducks agreed to back in 2009 that said they could get out deal if A&M changed conferences. The deal was made when the Aggies werein the Big 12 and they have since moved to the SEC.

The Ducks wanted to keep the games against A&M and are now left to scramble to find games against another significant opponent-- or opponents -- in that two-year window. The Aggies had been slated to visit Eugene Sept. 15, 2018 with the Ducks making the return trip to College Station Sept. 14, 2019.

The timing of this event notwithstanding, there's plenty of reasons to not like Hyman.

Come on, stop shooting from the hip without facts! That is what makes Aggies look stupid!

Both schools opted out due to scheduling issues. The year they were to host we would have only five home games; we offered to swap out dates, but they faced the same exact issue. NEITHER team was willing to do that.

Yep, fire the AD for making a good financial decision and trying to keep us with max number of home games. Bad AD, bad AD!

Yiu are probably pissed with the AD signing ASU next year, home/home with UCLA to replace the USC games they backed of and the ND home/home series he signed. Horrible AD!

No, but I'm very disappointed we cancelled a fantastic 2-game series that almost every cfb fan in the country was looking forward to and planning to watch.

We would have kept the game if they had switched the home and home. They refused so we canceled. That's what people with options do. You tell them your terms and if they refuse you move on. Now we have a home game with Clemson in a year where we only have 3 conference home games.

The A&M - Oregon series was a marquee matchup that would have been of incredible benefit (publicity, brand-building, national spotlight) for both programs. We're building a national program. Big mistake to walk away from that series.

In my opinion, it would be a bigger mistake -- and a disservice to season ticket holders -- to have have just 6 home games. I'd prefer 7 home games and play Clemson.

"Our goal is to play seven home games at Kyle Field each season," Hyman explained. "Playing at Oregon in 2018, combined with the Arkansas game in Arlington, would leave us with only six home games that season. In even numbered years such as 2018, we only have three SEC home dates as
long as we continue to play Arkansas in Arlington."

Our fanbase could have survived (just this once) having 6 home games plus the Arkansas game in Arlington. In return, our program could have gotten many additional millions of dollars worth of marketing and branding.

Anyway, what's done is done. Move on.

Dude I was being generous waiting after the Trifecta of Miss. St., Ole Miss & Alabama. Just be thankful a lousy Arkansas team choked. Hell, the only one who had a worse month than a&m was Obama.

But you do have La Madison to add to your wins over powerhouses like SMU, Rice, Lamar . . .

So do you really think that wins over North Texas, Kansas and Iowa State top wins over SMU, Rice, Lamar, SC and Arkansas? By what criteria?

Tell me ... as a BIG Longhorn fan, even if you didn't attend that school, what would your definition of a successful season be for the Longhorns in 2014, as far as final W-L record?

And remember, your team was 8-5 last year and that was viewed as a huge disaster.

And remember, Longhorns are too good for moral victories.

I expected/hoped for 10 wins with a healthy ash. Obviously that didn't hsppen. I also didn't foresee ksu, tcu, osu, and wvu being as good as they are. At this point, with all the dismissals and injuries, I'd consider making a bowl to be acceptable. But I REALLY want to win out!! Most of all I want to see swoopes continue to improve and the defense be consistent.

FACT: The Aggies had MORE dismissals than Texas did, as far as starters especially.

If Oregon contract was signed in 2009 with an escape clause for leaving the Big Xii can anyone figure out how we knew in 2009 that we might be in another conference?

- Delaney announces in nov 2009 that Big 10 is lookin at adding between 1-5 teams.
- Nebraska, Missouri and Texas all start talks with Delaney in January 2010...
- We almost agreed to go with Texas to PAC-12 in June 2010...then slow things down to consider other options...
- We left sept 2011before all that...Byrne puts a clause into the Contract that allows us to back out if we change conferences...

Hmmm,...1 edit
