In the end enough Scots were happy enough with their cradle to grave social policies, their government owned healthcare system and current net receiving more than taxes given position and decided not to go full socialist. Socialists aren't that good managing economies and oil/gas revenues...usually they just spend spend spend until the money dries up then confiscate the oil companies. See Venezuela.
