I have a free inhabitant living on some land we bought at the tax sell. It's just raw land so the sheriffs office is going to go remove them. LEO made contact and he claimed he will arrest the sheriff if he comes out there. Now we are waiting on the DA to give the go ahead for forceful removal. Pray for all parties involved.

That sucks. Hopefully he is not one of the "sophisticated" ones that knows enough to file a bunch of BS lawsuits, etc. They would all ultimately be unsuccessful, but those azzholes can cause quite a headache.

It was in a LLC.

They are in an RV. Working on getting power and water removed.

They also have bobcats and tractors stored on the land.

Their taxes were $41 a year.

The stage is set for an interesting set of events. When they issue a warrant they will also remove and impound their stuff. I have no clue the level of crazy it takes to feel entitled enough to lose all your **** over $41 a year worth of taxes. But I guess we will find out.

That's crazy squared. 41 bucks? Wow. I'd be shocked if lead did not fly out there. Hopefully the LEOs can catch him off guard but my guess he carries at all time seeing he is the sheriff of his property.

This is one of the reasons that we've hesitated about buying on the courthouse steps. We've seen some pretty surly people watching other people buy "their" properties & the thought of having to go thru this type thing is pretty scary. Good luck, OP - hope nobody gets hurt.

We only buy raw land that's not ag exempt. Right of redemption is six months. We turn around and owner finance it. It's been some of our best work.

This one will be interesting though.

Curious, why not AG exempt property? Two year wait? Wouldn't this guy be homestead and subject to same?

If they are living in a RV (not an affixed mobile home), then the RV is personal property, and I would argue that they have not shown an intent to permanently occupy the property as their homestead. So the 6 months would apply.
