COLUMBIA, MO. After last year's breakthrough, the Missouri women's basketball team faces a major setback heading into the upcoming season. Senior forward Jordan Frericks, the team's leading rebounder and No. 2 scorer last year, will miss the season after suffering a torn knee ligament, MU confirmed Wednesday.

Frericks, a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection last year when she averaged 12.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, tore the ACL in her right knee during a preseason workout. The 6-1 forward from Quincy, Ill., is eligible for a redshirt year and plans to rejoin the Tigers for the 2017-18 season.
