Former Texas A&M All-American Kelsey Bone was named to the USA Select Team, as announced by USA Basketball. The USA Select Team trains alongside the United States National Team from July 23-25, to prepare the senior team for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Bone was selected an AP Third Team All-American in 2013, after leading the Aggies to 2013 SEC Tournament title, earning MVP honors. She averaged 14.3 points and 8.1 rebounds over 70 games at Texas A&M. Currently a member of the Phoenix Mercury, she is averaging 8.9 points and 4.2 rebounds in this WNBA season.

Bone previously competed for the United States at the U18 and U19 level, winning gold medals with the Stars & Stripes at the 2008 FIBA Americas U18 Championship and the 2009 U19 World Championship.

The USA Select Team is scheduled to practice July 23 at 5:30 p.m. at a site to be determined, hold a second practice July 24 at 12 p.m. at USC's Galen Center before tipping-off July 25 at 9 p.m. against the USA National Team at the Galen Center, with television coverage set for NBA TV.

"This is a really good group of young and talented athletes," said USA and University of Connecticut head coach Geno Auriemma. "Having them train against our USA National Team will not only help us prepare for Rio, but it will also give us a chance to evaluate them for future USA Basketball teams. I've already had the opportunity to work with several of them in a USA Basketball National Team setting, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them as well as the rest of the USA Select Team in this kind of setting."

"I'm am thrilled that Kelsey gets a chance to play for the USA Select Team, and represent the United States and Texas A&M," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. "She will have an another opportunity to go against the best and showcase her skills to hopefully be selected to future USA Basketball teams."

Joining Bone on the USA Select Team is Kahleah Copper (Rutgers/Washington Mystics); Stefanie Dolson (Connecticut/Washington Mystics); Natasha Howard (Florida State/Minnesota Lynx); Jewell Loyd (Notre Dame/Seattle Storm); Tiffany Mitchell (South Carolina/Indiana Fever); Aerial Powers (Michigan State/Dallas Wings); Sugar Rodgers (Georgetown/New York Liberty); Odyssey Sims (Baylor/Dallas Wings); Kiah Stokes (Connecticut/New York Liberty); and Elizabeth Williams (Duke/Atlanta Dream).

I guess the $$ in the pros turned on the light bulb of consistency.
Same story for DeAndre Jordan after his one year on the mbb team.
Really helps to be born tall!

Should be first in line for a spot if someone is injured or sick if she plays hard. Also an acknowledgement her comments on Geno rattled the leadership. Or at least was throwing Kelsey a Bone...
