I just pulled out at $5. I'm going to investigate it a little more over the weekend and may buy back in next week, but this smells like a short run to me. I'm also wondering based on the volume of someone's trying to pull off a hostile takeover.

short covering, the bottom has to fall out at some point. Oil isn't up dramatically.

I've solidified why I have a broker for 99% of my investments. All this buying and selling today & I'm basically even for the day. Too stressful

Short squeeze is what is causing all the crappy companies to go crazy.
Are they fundamental moves? No... But some cray trading dynamics could keep it going.
Pretty much everyone had the same trade on: long survivors, short non survivors. Commodity guys were all largely short crude. Credit guys have been buying distressed debt and shorting the equities, and macro quants have all been long tech, consumer, health care and underweight energy.
What caused the squeeze? Could have been commodity covering post DOEs, could have been credit guys covering following some high yield deals getting done but once one of those groups started to cover it forced a ton of pain in energy starting Wednesday. Then as everyone else starts to unwind the pain just accelerates. That is why bell weathers OXY, PXD, CXO etc are barely up and the dogs are screaming.
Major Hedge funds were blowing up yesterday and today and causing these crazy moves. I'm sure you will hear stories of the carnage next week

Time to hold long and see where this ends at their next review in 2017....
Really happy I bailed out of my 5.44 short after it spiked then dropped down to 5.66. I'd be losing my ass if I had held it.
