I'd say most remember Nolan Ryan for his multiple no-hitters as a Ranger, not for clocking Ventura (even though that was a fantastic moment).

Perhaps I should have said that this is why the casual baseball fan remembers him as a Ranger. But I could be wrong and probably am. But I would be OK with that.

um, Johnny Bench was a first ballot hall of famer. Got 96% of the vote.

2-time NL MVP and 10-time gold glove winner.

single-handedly destroyed the Yankees in the 76 world series --- went 8 for 15 with 4 x-base hits.

he's one of the top 25 players of all-time (post-WWII)
