I hope that was a back-breaking ass whipping that effectively ends the series.

Green and Leonard on him tonight were extremely effective. Their defense seemed to wear down both him and Reddick as the game went on. Just amazing.

JJ Reddick was 2-3 with 7 points in the first seven minutes. He was 0-4 for 0 points the rest of the game.

In game 1 we got killed and really didn't play great defense. Pop's adjustment that he made in games 2 and 3 is straight from Rick Carlisle; we've been switching most of the high pick and rolls.

They did this on important possessions in game 2 to great effect. It's the Clippers' turn to come up with an adjustment because tonight they couldn't get a good look.

This Leonard kid seems to be pretty good.

Spurs are 16-3 when leading a series 2-1 under Pop.

Kawhi had 32 points on 72% shooting with 4 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He did all that in just 28:30 and only committed 1 foul and 1 turnover. There were lots of advanced offensive moves into shots that a lot of NBA wings can not make, so it's not like he shot 72% on a bunch of layups and open catch-and-shoots and HOLY S*** DUNKS.

What helps make it so effective is that their most common pick and roll combo is Paul and Griffin, who have been guarded mostly by Kawhi and Diaw. When that switch is made, Diaw is just quick enough to not get blown by and just long enough to not give up a clean look at a jumper to Chris Paul. On the other end, Kawhi has enough length and strength that it's not a gimme for Blake Griffin, plus if blake tries to put it on the floor Kawhi has his hands all over the place making him in comfortable. we sag off Barnes and stay tight to Reddick to not give up the open 3, and then just make sure that we're not leaving Jordan wide open for a dunk, and LAC is bamboozled by it right now.

My favorite part of the Kawhi AlleyOop was Blake Griffin seeing how high the ball was and knowing he couldn't jump that high. Then Kawhi throws it down.

Griffin just stands in amazement.

When you watch him play, it's obvious that Leonard has some pretty grand plans for his offensive game. He isn't content to just shoot pull-up jumpers and dunk. He's working on a building a full repertoire. Post-ups, fade aways, fakes and feints... he wants to do it all. And that's where we come to the scary part: he's already looking pretty good on O and has a lot of moves (he's not that far from having an at-will take-over mode like Harden, Durant, James)... and he's only 23!!! He's 5 years away from his NBA prime!

No kidding, in another 2-3 years, he could be the best player in the NBA. He's already so good on defense that simply dribbling within 5' of him is stupid, and he's making huge strides on offense.

Agree. Last year he performed many of these moves at least once or twice successfully, but it looked like he was basically choosing a move and executing it. Lots of think then act, and not much ability to alter his plan mid-play if the defense was well-positioned for what he wanted to do. This year he looks more decisive when he gets the ball and a lot smoother executing moves and reacting to the defense. He has become very consistent with a lot of them (especially jumpers moving to his left and his repertoire of turnaround jumpers and hooks on both baselines).

And yet he still looks he hasn't quite put it together. Next year teams are going to stick tighter and close harder on the outside, which brings the pump fake into play. Once he can combine his vastly improved ball handling and footwork with the aggression to get all the way to the rim (and finish with that nasty eurostep) when he gets a shoulder past the defender....
