Wow is all I can say about this thread. Looking back in the archives, I can see that I posted several times on the same threads with Dr. Gates, and as cheesy as it sounds, that's quite an honor.

When SBP Jim Carlson asked me to give the invocation for the College of Agriculture's graduation this past May, it was a great honor. When I was sitting on the stage and Dr. Gates introduced me to the crowd, that moment was one of the most intimidating moments of my life, yet undoubtedly one of the greatest honors I have received in my 22 short years. A short time later that evening, when he handed me my diploma and then said "we sure appreciate you taking care of the prayer for us", that was just icing on the cake.

Well, either this is the greatest coup in TexAgs history, or the biggest honor TexAgs has ever received. Either way this is the greatest post on TexAgs.

Dr. Gates you truely are an inspiration to Ags and Non-Ags alike. Though the University will miss your leadership and charisma, we all understand that your loyalty and duty to your country is the top priority. I will consider it an honor to have been at school at Texas A&M while you were president. If I end up half the man you are I will consider myself extremely successful. Just so you know though, people may have discounted your posts because of your "rookie" status but you always made great posts. Sure some used humor, but I think you are allowed that.
Also, I wish there was a freshman convocation when I went to A&M. I did not fully take advantage of my time at A&M and the advise given during that program surely helped those in similar situations.
