When you say awful attendance do you mean 90,000? Because it was only 5 or so years ago we had our first 90k game (Nebraska). Bet we have well over 90k this weekend

Yep. Those with little kids might appreciate them more if they weren't at 6:30pm... if they need to drive home the same night.

Hate cupcake games. Like paying to see Mike Tyson in his prime fight a 15 year old girl. Not sporting. And yes, Appalachian St, blah, blah, blah. For every upset there are 20 wins. And mostly boring blowouts. We only get 12 games and I hate wasting 3 of them on cupcakes.

Glad fans are speaking with empty seats. Hope they change the attendance requirement (which they don't even enforce) from 15,000 to 30,000. This would cut the teams from 128 to 80. Then allow FBS to only play FBS.

I don't care about cupcakes finances. I'm not a socialist. There fans need to support them if they want to play.
Not a socialist, huh? That's all well and good, but do you know who IS a socialist? Texas A&M Athletics. Who else? The Southeastern Conference. Yes, the conference shares revenue amongst the teams for the betterment of all. The very definition of socialism.

The sooner people leave politics in the politics board the better off the football board will be.
Didn't we already do away with socialism?!

"Socialist." I don't that that word means what you think it means. Their team still has to suit up, play the game, and spend the next two weeks in the ice bath, ... and their players learn something by playing a better team. Their players deserve a little TV time, too. They practice just as had as anyone else. Distribution of revenues to all colleges would be "socialist," you know, like the TV revenues are in most conferences.

And it's "their," not "there."

All teams play cupcakes (except, of course, the cupcakes that go 0-12). Get over it.

Seriously! The game was better when teams only scheduled 11 games. They ought to disallow games with FCS opponents

Uh... You do know that New Mexico State is an FBS school not an FCS .. Right?

Across the board, non-con needs to go away.
Make the damn season nothing but conference games. Get in where you fit in.

Just play 9 conference games, one power 5 ooc game (usually against a mid to upper tier program) and 2 buy games, mostly against group of 5 opponents. Make Arkansas home and home and play the power 5 ooc game at home when you have 4 home SEC games.

Playing 9 games, you will also play every East opponent every 3 years. Every player sees their East opponents once or twice in 4 years. We see our East opponents every 6 years at Kyle instead of every 12 like now. Also, surely more money as a bonus.

We should schedule BDF teams to fill in for our cupcakes.

Id rather watch the ags kick the **** out of Baylol, tech, tu etc.

They're at the same level, if not worse than nmsu and utsa.

Plus, They could use the exposure and money

I'm glad our players get a week to lick some wounds from the Bama game before the final stretch of SEC play. Whining about ticket prices, attendance sucking, etc. aside, the timing of this "cupcake game" might be the key to us winning out. Especially if Myles can get back to 100% after another week off.

I'm simply amazed at the number of rabid A&M football fans who would rather make arguments that we need to play schools like NMSU and Prairie View, decrease the value of the season tickets and the gameday experience (b/c is sucks when the stadium is empty and tailgating is subdued with those kind of games).

I get 'resting' players and backup playtime...it isn't always about fans........but its still a scrimmage.

Can't expect fans to devote time and $$ for SCRIMMAGES.

No, but there are a sizable enough number of teams in the AAC and the Mountain West that we could schedule. Heck, right now, half of the Big 10 and 2/3 of the Big XII wouldn't be a bad deal.

It would be nice to add an extra conference game (would give us a chance to play more east teams)
- 9 conference games
- one or two group of 5 teams
- NO FCS TEAMS
- one or two power 5 schools (preferably 1 good Pac 12/Big 10 school , and one bottom tier ACC school)

there are plenty of teams we could schedule instead of an FCS team

Houston/Rice/SMU
Tulsa
La Tech
UCF
Pitt
Wake Forest
Boston College
Colorado (yes we have them in 2020)
BYU
Southern Miss
or any of the service academies

Never understand bringing in total crap and expecting people to make the trek to Aggieland for the game.

We would win just as easily if we brought in Army, SMU, Colorado State, Tulane, etc. and it would at least be respectable.

Most power 5 teams do this. Especially in the SEC. And no, it does not cheapen A&M's schedule. Our SOS is consistently ranked in the top 10 this year.

By solid FBS schools do you mean UCLA, with a 3-5 record? None of you probably know how demanding a season is on an athlete. Even against cupcakes they have to go out and perform. Many of you have forgotten the 08 loss to Arkansas State, which was supposed to be a "cupcake". A&M has the #15 SOS in the country what else do you want?

Now would be a good time to schedule a long series with Baylor. Recruits won't even listen to them anymore. They are going to be really bad again, just like the old days. You couldn't find an easier cupcake anywhere that's fun to beat up on.

As tv gets cheaper with things like sling and others, and the football experience via tv continues to get better, fans will continue to stay home during hear crap games. I still live in CS and I don't want to go to that game. I don't blame out of towners. Either universities will start to see that the money they pay these teams for auto wins is hurting them along with down attendance and change their schedules, or they will continue to have low numbers.
