Not a surprise. Dont think we were ever recruiting him too hard. Still sucks to see top talent leaving the state

quote:You're right. I don't know who your defensive coordinator is, but he must be as good as they come. (sigh) If only we could get a DC that good one day...
Or maybe he likes his chances of going pro by going to the program that has been the best at producing NFL-ready defensive backs for the past 13 years. We are called "DBU" by football analysts for a reason.

Why would any recruit with potential pick A&M over LSU for any football related reason?
quote:
Chavis was a solid DC for us, really good at stopping the run, but as soon as it was Third and Chavis prevent mode, we all knew we'd end up losing as the opposition marched down again to beat us with a last-second drive. Happened time and time again, and you'll experience the Chavis frustrations soon if you haven't already.
Our new DC will likely be even better than Chavis. He led Wisconsin to having one of the best defenses in the country, despite having mostly only 3-star players to work with. Now he inherits an LSU defense loaded with experienced 4 and 5 star talent at every position. It should be a 2011 level good defense this year.
The Chavis move worked out great for us in the end. Lose a coach that doesn't want to be there anymore, then the next year send your crappy DC to Auburn and end up with one of the best young assistant coaches out there right now. I'm happy with that.
Hope y'all enjoy Chavis. He's good, but I think you'll eventually tire of him, as we did.

Sure. Look at the big picture. If the SEC keeps tapping into the main source of Big 12 talent, it diminishes their talent pool. We will always recruit Texas the best in the SEC regardless of how good we are, so when the Big 12 implodes, that sets us up the best. SEC schools taking top talent away from Texas, TCU, Etc only hastens the implosion.

Corey Webster, Morris Claiborne, Tryann Mathieu, Tharald Simon, Patrick Peterson, Eric Reid, and many others. Not even Alabama under Saban matches our reputation for recruiting and developing top-class defensive backs.

I'd take 3rd and Chavis over 1st and Snyder every day of the week.

Wern't those kids coached by Chavis?

Typical LSU fan. LowsportsIQ. Chavis was good but not great, we're actually better now blah blah blah.
