The husband and I are taking a road trip to this year's Alabama game. It looks like Birmingham will be the place to stay, but does anyone have any suggestions for what to do the day before and the day of the game?

We will be taking I-10 and hitting up a few casinos along the way. Are there any other sites or parks worth stopping at for a while?

Scott, LA is the Boudin capital of the world. It's near the TX LA border.

Day of game: hang around the quad surrounding the Denny Chimes. It's the epicenter of tailgate scene. Go to the Bear Bryant Museum next to the hotel on campus.

Get tanked and lose all your money at the Golden Nugget in LC, then maybe NOLA the next night.

Don't. You'll be venturing off into the depths of a dark, unknown, dangerous, backwards, and unexplored wilderness, populated by strange violent tribes of human-like toothless cavemen. You might not come back.

I've been to Lousiana before, Alabama should be a step up from that.

My wife and I are also going to watch the Ags once again BTHO Bama in October. We are calling it our "Redneck Weekend". After watching the Aggie victory on Saturday, we are going to the Nascar race at Talledega on Sunday, do Savannah, Charleston, and Myrtle Beach, and end up at the Nascar race in Martinsville,Va. the next Sunday! It's gonna be a great week, all started by an aggie victory on the 22nd!

Give yourself 3 hrs to get to game from Birmingham on game day. Traffic horrid. Represent and put an A&M flag on your car. Every bama fan has one.

I went in '12 (good lord, I can't believe it was that long ago), and did it pretty much perfect, IMO. Had ribs and beers at Dreamland Fri. then headed to the strip. Lots of Ags hanging out at the Houndstooth and on the strip in general on Friday night. If you have someone that doesn't mind DDing back to Bham, it was a really good time with other Ags and mingling withe the bammers.

Saturday, you have to get a yellow hammer from Gallette's just to say you did. Then at least check out the Bryant museum. Spend the rest of the time wandering the tailgate scene around the Quad/Denny Chimes until the game. Celebrate Aggie victory back on the strip.
