This is simply a great hire, imo! Excited to get Coach Turner back working with these guys!
******* I'm in. Thought I was out, but I'm right back in. Turner will, at the least, produce a cohesive o-line to open holes for Ford/White. I expect Knight to flourish in Mazzone's 5-play get-your-playmakers-the-ball offense. It seems Sumlin has brought in exactly the kind of coaches this team needed. Last year we talked about being tough, running the ball and stopping the run. This year we won't hear much talk, but we will see it on the field.

DC is a good (not great) coach who just did not fit our system, style, ect... At other stops he has installed effective blocking schemes, taught good fundamentals, enforced sound execution, ect... He did not do that here. I do not know why. Elements of this board are convinced he argued w/Spav & was unable to implement his desired changes. This is consistent w/some other things I have heard but I don't know if it's true. Great folks are sometimes rendered ineffective by different situations.
I am pumped for Turner. He is a great coach.
I expect dramatic year one improvement (like w/Chavis) & continuing progress as he gets his guys in place (like Turner in '10-'12).

Excellent hire. But what gets me is that we have given up on the air raid, a great offense that we never truly ran. For two years we had the "give it to Johnny" and later it was the run version of air run raid. I don't think Spav had the liberty to ever run the true offense.
