It seems to be a widespread occurrence that students and former students alike at every major university with a football program go out and splash hatred and vitriolic comments all over social media and blogs anytime a recruit snubs, decommits from, or otherwise signs with another program after expressing interest in their program.
My suggestion would be that A&M make it a tradition to stand in stark contrast to every other school in that respect. It may be an objective fact that the recruit played us and our program like fools, but I think it sends a much more powerful message to other recruits both in the short- and long-term, if Aggies made it a point to turn the other cheek, wish the recruit luck, and speak positively about recruits in general, regardless of whether they commit to our program.
Please don't mistake me as saying that we should be sunshine pumpers and ignore the truth and facts about the quality and direction of our program. My point is that blasting hate doesn't change anything and many recruits read the trash many of you post on these boards. All you are doing by posting that garbage is causing more recruits and their families to think twice about throwing their commitment behind our program. And, even if I am dead wrong and what you idiots post on here has nothing to do with whether a recruit decides to commit to our program, it speaks volumes about who we are as Aggies and what we stand for as a university. That if nothing else, should be worthy of a little restraint.
After they've boosted all the rest
They will come and join the best
How can we be the best if we are just like everyone else?
