Sure they are champ. They have played one top 25 team and lost. A team that Georgia blew out by 24 points. They have played only 3 teams in the top 60 and are 1-2, including a loss to #56 Virginia. I assume you're on the committee. lol

Ok a major conference team undefeated at this point in the season has to be ranked in the top four. If they aren't good they'll lose and fall out, and it looks like we're seeing tonight, but while they're undefeated you can't put them anywhere else.

Again time to evolve. Look at the data. There is only one major conference. The best 4 teams are in the SEC. that's not opinion, that is backed by 114 polls which track every game and every stat without bias. Those polls don't care about the name of the jerseys or how many Heismans they won over the last 100 years. They don't care who won last season. They track one thing and that is all the games from this season.
