Right now, we are credited with 6 turnovers gained when in reality the defense has only forced 3 (INT vs. SC, Lamar, FF vs. MSU).

One was a fumbled snap
Two were muffed punts

After 8 games last season, the 2013 defense had intercepted 11 passes (returning 2 for touchdowns) and recovered 4 fumbles (returning 1 for a touchdown).

One of MANY problems - ranked 113/125 in TO margin.

TOs forced has been absolutely abysmal ever since Snyder got here

Great stat to compare good defenses vs the abysmal Snyder product that we field.

Hard to get turnovers, when our dbs aren't close to the wrs and our defense can barely tackle let alone deliver a big hit or gang tackle.

yep, the defensive touchdowns have evaporated in 2014. The Ags had a nice sprinkling of them in 2012 and 2013 especially in SEC play

Cue BBA explaining how this is not Snyders fault. God hates the Ags

Really? Let's examine.

2012: 12 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries. 3 TD (5 INT, 1 FR after 8 games)
2013: 17 interceptions, 5 fumble recoveries. 4 TD (11 INT, 4 FR after 8 games)
2014: 2 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries. 0 TD

the Ags had a lengthy problem with turnovers and defensive scoring during the Fran and Sherman eras. In fact A&M went 5+ years without a defensive score in Big 12 play. (2005-2011)

But that's what happens when your defensive players are slower, smaller, and weaker than their opponents --- instead of bigger, faster, and stronger

This is an unsustainable number largely due to random chance. No one is THAT bad at turnovers. Even terrible defense get lucky with turnovers all the time.

This bodes well for Sumlin and the D coordinator (whoever is happens to be) next season. This season's unluck is next season's luck. Random stats like turnovers returns to the mean.

Just conference play or overall? A&M scored defensive touchdowns in the 2nd and 3rd games of the 2008 season.

Two teams in all of FBS have fewer Ints than A&M...UConn and Buffalo with one each, and they've played 6 and 7 games respectively.

It kills me every time I see some team return a pick or fumble for a touchdown, while we can't even sniff a turnover.

that was conference games only. The 2008 defensive TD's were against New Mexico and Army.

if I remember correctly...after Buhl's long TD fumble return in 2004 vs. t.u....

A&M did not score another defensive touchdown in a conference game until Jacobs' TD fumble return vs. Arkansas at Kyle in 2012.

there were special teams TD's...kickoff returns for touchdowns in 2009 and 2010 in conference games and blocked FG return vs. Tech in 2011.

it was a long, long drought
