El Nino year better get ready for more large rain events. Imo they should put some sort of mesh under the sod to allow the roots to bind together better. Sand y sold doesn't provide enough grab in the short term

You realize that's how field are built right? The sand allows the water to percolate through much faster.

So, the grass would have been fine if we did not get the rain the night before the game. Instead of letting it grow for the next month we will spend an extra $300k to put new grass in one week before the Ole Miss game. If the current grass should have been good last week, shouldn't it be good after anot her month of growth?

I have a hard time believing that every field has 4-6 inches of sand underneath it. There must be a better alternative to this.

If you have ever laid sod/grass you know that it would take a long time for the sod to grab to sand. Then, even when it does grab it would be sitting on top of something that's not very stable.

Just imagine for a moment of dumping a bag of sand on the ground, laying sod on it and having 260lb men running on top of it.

I have this really bad feeling that this whole ordeal is about to turn into the next Aggie joke.

We are about to blow 300k on some grass and have the same issue assuming some rain comes

There were footing/grass issues the game before this just not as bad as the Rice game

I dont know much about this kind of stuff, but this doesn't sound like a good plan. Sure hope none of your players or other teams players suffer any consequences.

I seriously can't see how this makes sense, either, but my experience is admittedly limited to laying sod in my yards over the years.

Though I agree. Seems like the best route would be to lay turf for the rest of the year. Then lay natural grass for next year assuming there is enough time for it to take (for the 15' season)
