She was a lot older than the rest when she started though.
Does anybody use a lab or golden retriever as a mascot? That'd be pretty dope.
I know she came in when I was a student. Guess 08 still feels recent to me. Didn't realize it was that long ago.

Typical lifespan for a Collie is only 12-14 years or so. Rev VIII is 8- she was 2 when she started the gig in August 2008.

The Stevenson Companion Animal Life-Care Center is a great place for her. She'll have so much attention and other dogs to play with.

I did a story on them for Texas Aggie years ago and got to tour the facility and meet all the animals at that time! It's awesome. I'd even consider sending my pets there if I died.
Glad to hear she's stepping down, it's time. She's been a GREAT dog and deserves her retirement!

Does it have to be a Collie? No offense, but that's not the most intimidating dog for an athletic mascot. How about a German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois- that way it's still a dog with herding roots for an ag school.

I post this suggestion every time there is a replace Rev thread:
Team up with a local animal shelter and adopt a black mutt every year. It has to be black so we can market a license. At the end of the year that rescue retires and goes to live a life of luxury with some rich old Ag. Go adopt a new mutt. Would help rescue some dogs, bring us great PR, and bring attention to a good cause. Everyone wins.

Think of the good publicity we could get if we adopted a mutt from the local animal shelter. May even steal us some hippie t.u. commits. Not that we need them.
Holy crap same stupid idea at the same time.
They started getting an older Rev because we had a couple of duds with epilepsy and/or psycho dog issues. So the extra time helps cull out the freaks before we pick one. Bu that also means retirement is going to arrive more quickly.

Guys, everytime a new Reveille comes up the rescue/mutt ideas come out. Doubt seriously they'll do this, so don't get your hopes up.
As some one with three rescue animals (two dogs and a cat), I support it, but it won't happen.
