Glad we had that grass. Would be so embarrassing if some of our star recruits got hurt on turf.

Thread on premium disputes this as bulls**t.
KDS needs to DEMAND that the field be fixed before the next home game.
we cannot afford anymore injuries to either our players or the opponents which might be traced to the field.
It's our responsibility to provide a safe environment for the game to be played. Legally it's really problematic.

3 weeks would be SMU, Ark, and Miss St. We should be fine. I have seen kids come back from a MCL sprain sooner than 3 weeks. There are different degrees on MCL sprains. According to which it is.

3-5 weeks is pretty standard for an MCL injury. Not nearly as devastating as an ACL injury. It's not the grounds crew's fault, they were just doing their job with what they were given to work with. Blame whoever decided to go with sod without enough time for it to grow together.

MCL injuries are graded 1-3. Grade 1 (less than 10% of fibers) and grade 2 (more than 10% but not complete rupture) are relatively minor and almost always heal completely within a few weeks. This must be what he has if his recovery is this short. His performance and knee stability should not suffer at all after recovery.
Grade 3 (complete rupture) is has a much longer recovery time and would probably require surgery. He would have permanently decreased knee stabilization and an increased likelihood for future knee injuries. He is lucky not to have this if his recovery is so short.
MCL tears can be associated with ACL injury so it needs to heal completely and he may need to wear a brace for a while.

RSJ got hurt last year vs Rice. We can't say 100% it was the turf. Stuff happens. Sumlin has the philosophy next man up. We will be fine. He will get some need rest and be ready to go when we need him most.

Maybe shoulda gone turf in 14 and 15 and then grass installed spring of 16.

Orthopedic surgeon here. Isolated MCL tears (sprains) are almost always treated non-operatively. I usually keep my complete MCL tears out and in a brace for 4 weeks, then reexamine. This appears to be his situation. Be reassured they are not talking surgery, as that would mean other ligaments are injured (as seen on MRI).
With the new therapy pool we have, speedy will be back in no time
