Howdy,
I’ve met a few people on here that said I should share what I’m doing with a wider audience.. so I guess there is no better place than here! Was going to do it last week but with the mayhem of Bama week thought I’d hold off till now.
To cut a long story short, I am a sports/comedy writer from England and I’m writing a book about the Aggies season and my experiences of CS from a British POV. Let’s just say, Texas is a world away from what I’m used to, so some of my encounters and experiences would (I hope) make you laugh.
I arrived in CS a day before the Rice game and I’m here until the last home game of the season against Mississippi State (I'm heading home after the first stretch of 4 home games, but then returning for the next batch of home games). I’ve only just started to get used to the heat by the way!
Why did I embark on this adventure and choose A&M? There are many reasons. After becoming disillusioned with my nation’s number one sport (soccer), I discovered what we call across the pond: American Football. Naturally, I got into the NFL and this soon spread to college football.
College football wowed the socks off me. Everything about it seemed appealing. In the UK it is relatively unknown. Hopefully with my book, that might change (well I can dream can’t I?’).
With that in mind, I set about choosing where I would go and write about. The idea of writing such a book spawned from an American sports writer called Chuck Culpepper. Six or seven years ago, he followed my beloved soccer team (Portsmouth) around the country.
Now it’s Texas A&M’s turn
I’m not going to lie, I had looked at other colleges in my quest to find the perfect one to write about.
A&M had always appealed to me though. The atmosphere, passion and spirit of the place seemed unique. College Station is Texas A&M. As an Englishman, that astounded me. A town/city/station/society or whatever you want to call it that revolves around a university? For me, that’s incredible. Likewise, the traditions. Oh, the traditions.
ANYWAY, after saying that I’d keep a long story short, I seem to have failed, so I’ll shut up now.

I aim to get a new one up most days so be sure to check it out now and then. I’m currently halfway through writing my Bama weekend reaction. Yes, I know I'm slow. I've been licking my wounds.
Gig 'em.
