My whole lecture today was on the BoB! Lots of fun. It was an incredible test case for the airpower theory developed in the interwar period. Probably the only major successful air defense campaign. Interestingly, many of the lessons learned about strategic bombing were ignored by the British and Americans.

The true unsung heros of the BoB were the men and especially the women of Chain Home. The combination of great pilots, superb machines and the new technology of radar was unique in warfare.
The " book" of modern airfare was written by Fighter Command over the late summer and fall of 40 and probably has never been surpassed

I truly believe without them along with the sudden change to go after cities instead of airfields, it may have ended differently.
