I've had a hamstring cramp that won't go away for weeks at a time. What do I need to do?

A deep tissue massage and/or Airrosti treatment might not hurt.

Many times to no avail.

It's also excruciatingly painful.

If something lingers longer than a few days, I would recommend going to see a professional. It will likely heal with rest but getting help could help fix the cause of the problem.

If you let us know where you are located, we could provide recs.

Rest and stretch. I'm perpetually tight down my right leg. Not cramped but tight. It's no fun.

I'm a big fan of Logan Sherman (chiro), he's an elite local athlete. I've had great success seeing him after a few running injuries. Unfortunately he doesn't take insurance.

He doesnt take insurance because he wants to provide good care.

Airrosti usually seems to do a good job for soft tissue things, generally easy to see and they accept insurance.

It may not be tightness, it may be an actual tear and continuing to run on it is not going to help heal it. You need to stay off of it. (currently going through a slight tear... it feels like tightness when I'm walking... but running brings on sharp pain).

Was gonna say seek a doctor. I've had "tight hamstrings" for about two years that just would never quite 100% go away. I'm afraid all I've done since is make it worse.

I had a similar issue. Mine was scar tissue in my hamstring. I had deep tissue massage (torture) performed once a week for 5 or 6 weeks. I'm back to my regular mileage and been pain free for 9 months.

Also started a better hamstring stretching routine after I healed up.

This was my experience, just about every 2-3 years, and generally happened when I tried to up my mileage.

I've been trying to strengthen the hamstrings with squats, and a little bit of leg curls.

It went well! Actually had a grade 2 strain.

Sherman got in and did some work on it. Feeling a lot better now.

Thanks for the help!
