Red lightning bolt killing my Jeep

Hey guys,

Had a problem for the past few days. I drive a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and it keeps dying on me. I will be driving fine down the highway and get to an over pass I have to climb and the jeep totally shuts down. I get a red lightning bolt on my dash.

I've had the battery and alternator checked and all good and the guy who has it now is saying that he is not able to duplicate the error. Reading online, I have found that this could be associated with the Electronic Throttle Control, but apparently there isn't a way to test it?

Anyone had a similar issue and how was it resolved?

Thanks!

Unfortunately it's a pretty common occurrence.

So, I just got off the phone with the mechanic and he said that they replaced the crankshaft sensor. He took it out and drove on the highway for a bit, crossed over a few overpasses and it seems to be running fine.

Hopefully that took care of the issue!

That light means you're getting ready to shoot lightning out of your ass!

**** Shouldn't have had Chipotle for dinner.

Jeep made it home just fine today. Seems like it was a bad crankshaft sensor. Hopefully no more problems.

Same exact problem, on the same exact year model Jeep. We just had it in the shop two weeks ago to fix...

Jeep has been fine since...

Typically will have a code associated with it.

Had it in two shops and neither got a code.

98, yours was crankshaft sensor as well? Any idea why that would happen on a relatively new vehicle? I just crossed over 60k miles.

Check your negative battery cable...mine was doing that and I found it was just loose.

Not sure but ours rolled over 70k so we're in the same ballpark. Probably just a lesser quality part
