Yep drove it this weekend on some small climbs and those lockers worked great. Like the fact that it's not pretty so don't have to pamper it.

This site has some cool OEM looking cupholders and other cool items, I just bought the rear double cup holder and the center cup holder/tray thing.... Looks factory after I finally figured out how to install it.. Promo code TEQ15 saves 15%

Figured I would piggy back off this thread. I have also been scoping out some 80s and 100s for a few weeks. leaning towards an 80 just for exterior styling since the 100s look a little more luxury/modern. Saw the one below in Aledo. 91 with the center locker but dont plan on doing any serious off roading/crawling mainly beach cruising and running around town a couple days a week.

$5000 seems a little high but the body looks clean. May head up from San Antonio to take a look this week end. Also if i do head up there anyone have a rec for a mechanic i could run it to for a quick look.

Hard to tell from the pics, but maybe it was painted?

Also: take a look at the FZJ80 thread I started for more helpful info.

Price does seem a little high for the miles, but that one does look really clean.

While it is an 80 series, there are pretty significant differences between the 91-92 and the 93-97 models. First the 91-92 use an older single cam engine that is essentially a carryover from the 62 series. Its not really a bad thing, they are known to be more reliable than the 1fze found in the later model LC's, but they make much less horsepower. You'll mostly want to re-gear they axles if you get bigger tires. I dont think triple lockers were offered in these years. Related to the lockers, these have a semi-float rearend with drum brakes and no ABS. That cloth interior holds up better than any of the leather interiors they put in these.

I am partial to the 97's, a few more gadgets. I also like 94, that's the oldest I'd get and it would have to have cloth seats, I agree the older cloth seats are nice but the improvements of the 95-97 models outweigh the better seats in the 91-94 models. I think the last year for a brass radiator was 94 which is a added bonus. Those radiators are expensive. Come to think of it, I think I need to get one.... lol
