How long do you keep them... when do you replace?

I never change them. Just make sure it has air every 6 months. Nine times out of ten it's only go as far as the tire shop.

Although I did roll on mine for 1.5 months after my truck was hit while waiting to get into the body shop.

I wouldn't rock one older than 6 years.

2001 Oddy, I think its been out once. I guess I ought to check and see if its still there. I can see replacing after 6 years if its outside. But if its inside out of the weather, I'd say 10+ years

My wife ran over a screw today on her way to work. I met her and changed the tire (with the spare) and realized it was the original spare from 4.5 years ago.


She'll end up driving 30-40 miles on it... it's an outside one (12 pilot), but it's been garaged 99% of nights since we've owned it.

I was leaning towards replacing it... and figured I'd ask here.

My 97 F250 be-bopped around town for 2 months on the original spare 4 months ago.

If it holds air, I don't care.

I still have an original Firestone exploder tire on my whip.

Thought about getting it changed during the recall, but never got around to it.

Wonder if I can sell it for nostalgia....

Someone in Hollywood might be looking for period correct tires one day.

I went to NYC this weekend and I saw a set on a subway car for "Summer of George". Huge production.


Turns out it was the set for the new Spiderman movie. But I doubt they want my tire....

I keep the best tire of the last set I replaced.

I got a full size tire identical to my regular tires so now I have 5 total. Every time I rotate one comes off and is replaced in the rotation by the "spare". Should get a few extra thousand out of this set.
