I think you should maybe look harder at the Make of the filters before comparison.

Expensive one was K&N. RockAuto was Fram. Both name brand.

And I went and checked online after that post below and the K&N one was a reusable one.

Thanks!

You think auto zone is expensive. Ask the dealer and get some giggles.

It always amazes me to watch people pay 200 for the dealer to put in a new $15 air filter and a $10 cabin filter.

I would not use a Fram filter to filter my urine.

Wix or GTFO

I didn't buy either one.

I walked out of there knowing the TA auto board would have good information. And as always y'all have come through!

I typically get the STP air filter, but what's so wrong with Fram?

I've used them many times in the past and never had issues.

Get them through Advance Auto parts and use their 30 percent off promo code.

BTW they also pricematch RockAuto

Fram usually rates pretty low when compared to a lot of other filters in terms of the crud they allow to pass through. This goes for both air and oil filters.

Well, I guess it is a good thing I don't use them then.

Thanks.

Sooooo hypothetically, say I own a Fiddy with BOOOOST that it is about time to change the air filter.......what brand should I go with? Not Fram is what I am hearing.

I buy motorcraft fuel filters for my f250 on rock auto for much much cheaper than the dealer or autozone.

Also, where I live, I much prefer
Az to advanced. The az here has some
Real car guys. Plus the prices are better (sans coupon). I also like their rewards program.

I was under the impression Fram made the O'Reillys house brand too. Napa told me their house brand was Wix.

10 years ago Purolator made Oreilly house brand.

Fram got the contract about 7yrs ago.

2 years ago WIX got the deal.

Wix also makes a value brand filter that they sell to shops by the case, called "Pro Tec"
Its a Wix "B" filter, Same construction and quality, the burst pressure is 320ish vs 470 on the Wix branded unit.

I get my fuel filters on amazon. Right now they are $54.41. Little bit cheaper than rock auto

Yes I've gotten them from Amazon as well.

Any update on who makes filters for everyone nowadays? Ie are Napa Gold filters any good currently?

And how different are Baldwin vs Fleetguard?
milkman00

Just price shopped O'Reilly vs napa and wix at O'Reilly are about 10-20% cheaper than Napa Gold. Like the staff at the napa place but not worth a premium for filters if they aren't better.

Thoughts?

I buy wix filters from rock auto. And I usually buy 2-3 Engine and 2-3 cabin filters per order to reduce shipping costs.
