With our proximity to the coast I think we're severely lacking on quality mid-high end range seafood options.

If you wanna slum it Gillhooley's in San Leon but if dirty nasty dive bars with bad as food isn't you're deal Pier 6 in San Leon is a good option.

Little's and Navy Blue probably best for finer dining seafood. Balboa supposedly pretty good, but I have not been there.

Lots of good restaurants have fish on their menu, places like Riel, Rosie Cannonball, Ostia, etc. So lots of seafood out there.

I agree. It seems most seafood heavy restaurants around houston are either super high end (overpriced), or the trashier type of places (nothing wrong with those of couse), but for a nicer type of place Goode Co is about the only one that come to mind thats more mid-high end imo.

Pier 6 is great. I wish it was closer and that there were more places similar to it closer to houston.

Balboa is great restaurant for a date night with the Mrs. I recommend the Line Caught Swordfish.

Whenever we're in a seafood mood in town, we usually shuffle between Trulucks, Liberty Oyster Kitchen, and Tampico (off airline). Really just depends on what price point we're trying to hit, but all good in my opinion.

Of course Danton's was always a solid option before it shut down.

It does have a Cajun base to it but not completely

Winner. Gilhoolyes in San Leon has the best seafood. From the grilled oysters to the stuffed flounder, whole fish with head still on, nothing else mentioned here comes close. Great food but no kids and most of the seating is on the outside patio.

Yeah Dantons is now Eugene's in the old Mockingbord location on Welch. Same menu and food. A little nicer/fancier feel to it but it's still very good.

Field & Tides is consistently very good.

Good call. For my money, it doesn't get any better than RA Sushi.

Plus, place gets bonus points for strong bathroom selfie and stairs photo ops.

Houstonians are mostly afraid of sushi, which affects the fresh fish industry on the Gulf Coast.
